A Study on use of Pit and Fissure Sealant in Seoul Area

Abstract
|
|
|
In order to study the sue of pit and fissure sealant for the preventive purpose, 1,000 dentists who have their clinics in Seoul were surveyed. The questionnaries included the use of and fissure sealant, its values in prevention of dental caries,
the
ages of dentists and their knowledege on the pit and fissure sealant. The period of survey was 1 month starting form September 14th of 1995 and the percentage of answer was 33.9%.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1. 87% of participants used pit & fisure sealant and 85% of them answered that it is a very effective method to prevent dental caries.
2. The first permanent molar is the most favorable tooth to be treated.
3. The problems with its use are the danger of premature loss of the sealant and secondary dental caries formation caused by its lack of retention. Others were lack of patients and parental knowldge.
4. 96% of dentists applied sealant themselves and only 4% of dental hygientist were utilitzed.
